Arvind Kejriwal’s Weight Controversy in Tihar Jail: AAP Claims and Tihar Authorities Respond

Arvind Kejriwal Weighed Thrice in Tihar Jail with Different Machines, AAP Alleges

Introduction

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently surrendered at Tihar jail after the completion of his interim bail in a money laundering case. However, controversy erupted when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders alleged that Kejriwal’s weight was measured thrice using different weighing machines during his medical examination in prison. Additionally, they claimed that he was not provided with a cooler in his cell despite the scorching Delhi heat.

AAP’s Allegations

At a press conference, senior AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi stated that Kejriwal’s weight was measured with three different weighing machines. She also highlighted the absence of a cooler in his cell, even though such amenities are typically provided to inmates. Atishi emphasized that even notorious criminals lodged in Tihar receive coolers, but Kejriwal was denied this basic facility.

Tihar Jail Authorities’ Response

The Tihar jail authorities promptly refuted AAP’s claims. According to them, Kejriwal’s weight was recorded only once using a single weighing machine. They clarified that the chief minister was not given a cooler because such facilities are provided only after a court order. A senior Tihar jail officer confirmed that Kejriwal’s vitals, including blood pressure and sugar levels, were normal during the medical examination.

Conclusion

While AAP alleges a conspiracy involving Kejriwal’s weight measurement, the Tihar jail authorities maintain that proper procedures were followed. As the controversy continues, it remains to be seen how this issue unfolds.
